On December 4, 2009 in Uzhgorod, the priest of UAOC-C F. Sergiy (Manzhos) was assaulted. For the offering resistance to the assailant F. Sergiy was detained and brought to the police station in a brutal manner.
As was reported before, on November 7, Bishop Vasyliy was assaulted and the church captured. The clergy and the faithful started to pray on the concrete site near the church – the invaders spilt some boiler oil on it. Then the invaders brought the concrete blocks that were unloaded on the site. The unloading was ruled by Valeriy Velegitskyi and some other three persons. It was during those actions, when F. Sergiy came. The reaction of Velegitskyi was immediate – shouting: “Call the police, here are the usurpers from Kiev” he rushed with his fists clenched to F. Sergiy who protected himself with a pepper spray.
At the call of Velegitskyi the police came and accused F. Sergiy of the following: F. Sergiy (height near 1.60 m) attacked four men, sprinkle to Velegitskyi with a pepper spray and beat him. Despite the absurdity of such charge, the policemen put an armlock on F. Sergiy, called him offensive words and brought him to the police station. After F. Sergiy presented the written evidences as for the events happened, he was set free.
At present, in Uzhgorod the persecutions of the clergy and the faithful of UAOC-C are continuing. The masterminds are: Andriy Malynych (father of the Deputy Prosecutor of Uzhgorod, A.A. Malynych), Liuba Malynych, Valeriy Velegitskyi and Eva Krasnianyk. They personally visited the workplaces of the faithful and set the headship and the co-workers against them. The provocative and illegal actions are occurred against the clergy and the policemen promoted the criminals with their operations.
Vladyka Vasyliy was beaten before the eyes of the whole community and the police did not take any defensive steps.
Father Sergiy protected himself from the aggressor and the police came immediately and put the armlock on him.
The patriarchate of UAOC-C states that the persecutions of the clergy and the faithful of UAOC-C take place in Uzhgorod by the silent consent of the authorities and with the assistance of the law-enforcement agencies.
The patriarchate of UAOC-C emphasizes that the events taken place in Uzhgorod is the constituent part of the ordered large-scale campaign directed at the extermination of Patriarch Moses and the God’s Church.
The patriarchate of UAOC-C but again addresses to the President of Ukraine and to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine demanding to intervene into the unprecedented processes for the democratic country and protect the constitutional rights of the clergy and the faithful of UAOC-C..
