SPIRITUAL LESSONS

42. THE SERMON OF PATRIACH MOSES ABOUT UNMERCIFUL DEBTOR,
12.08.2007

The eleventh Sunday after the Feast of The Holy Trinity

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Glory to Jesus Christ, dear brothers and sisters!

Today we have heard the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew, XVIII:23-35).. It must be good lesson for us how to forgive our debtors - people, who owe something to you. Because if we do not forgive, we will not be forgiven. Lord, forgive us as we forgive people. And here Christ, our Savior tells the story about one king, who wished to settle accounts with his servants. So, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and house, and payment to be made. It is understandable, that it was very big tragedy for this servant. He became frightened and started to cry and ask: "Oh Lord, give me a chance, I will improve everything, I will pay my debt." But master knew that he will not pay it anyway, because he didn't have where to take money from. So out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt, he said: "Ok, I forgive you and your debt."

And that man went out; he was forgiven by his master. And he met his fellow servant whom he lent something to, so he said to him: "Pay what you owe". That one started to cry: "Have patience with me, and I will pay you", that is: "Give me a chance, I will return you later, because I do not have it now." But that servant didn't want to listen to him, so he took him and put into the prison. When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and told all that had to their master. Then his master summoned him and said to him: "You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you? And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt".

So we are. If we can't forgive, so we will work on our debts to Heavenly Father. Do you understand? And the debts of everyone are big: family sins, individual sins and so on. They are very big. And that is why we ask: "Oh, God, forgive us." And if it is difficult for you to forgive your enemies, so ask God: "Lord, give me love and forgiveness to that person, who owns me something, or who made something bad to me." To have in your heart forgiveness and calmness - it is necessary for God. Realize, we mustn't carry hatred to people in our heart, even if they hurt us much. We can remember pain, the pain will be healed by God, but the hatred makes us defective, because then bad energies are in us, not God's energies. Because of those energies we can't see God's Truth, God's Word in ourselves. Our soul is fogged. So we must have forgiveness in our heart: "Oh Lord, give me forgiveness to that situation or to something, someone."

Maybe, we have done the same bad thing to someone and it just returned to our relatives or friends. That is why we ask: "Oh Lord, forgive us, as we forgive." This prayer must have full power and full completion for us. We have to do it not to be similar to that unwise servant, we were thrown into the debt hole and he worked hard. Have you understood?

Be wise that not to be under karma hit. Would you work it off? Would you work it off as we make mistakes every day, and we made mistakes when we have not known God. Maybe we have not known God as we know Him today. Maybe we did some very bad things. Do you understand or not? The soul must become clean, must work on itself. It is righteous to do it, because it is important as for the past as for the future. You can hear in your soul spiritual cleanness, spiritual program for the future.

God loves you all, He blesses everybody, He forgives everybody.

Thank you for your love, for your prayers, for your serving.

Our community grows in God's love and it is very important, this love is saving, which has to save the whole world. This is very important. This energy, power mustn't be taken by anybody. The devil wants to do it, but try to be worth of forgiveness and have love to each other, because we are gathered for some purpose. We have to become strong body that others could form near us and build big Christ's family. That other people could not find any defects in us, any corruption, but they just will see holiness, feeling of happiness, love. Not fanaticism, not hypocrisy holiness, but our sincerity. Be as you are, but be sincere in God's eyes.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Apostle (1 Corinthians, 9:2-12):

9

2 If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

3 This is my defense to those who would examine me.

4 Do we not have the right to eat and drink?

5 Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?

6 Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working for a living?

7 Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock without getting some of the milk?

8 Do I say these things on human authority? Does not the Law say the same?

9 For it is written in the Law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain." Is it for oxen that God is concerned?

10 Does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.

11 If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?

12 If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we even more?

Gospel (Ìatthew 18:23-35):

18

23 "Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants.

24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.

26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.'

27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.

28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, 'Pay what you owe.'

29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you.'

30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt.

31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.

32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.

33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?'

34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt.

35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."
