Good afternoon.
I have a question concerning Lent.
In particular, what can be eaten and what can't? How and when?
There is much information on the Internet on this topic but I would like to hear a weighty opinion.
I will give an example, which I've found.
Correct please, if something is wrong. Recommend something, please.
During the first two days of the first week - total restraint from food.
On the other days of the forty days fast - one dry food intake in the evening time.
On Saturdays and Sundays - boiled food, twice a day, may be with butter.
On the Passion Week - dry food, on Holy Saturday and Holy Sunday - total restraint from food.
On Annunciation, unless falls on the Passion Week, and on Palm Sunday - it is allowed to eat fish.
On Sunday of Lazarus - it is allowed to eat caviar.
I really appreciate the future answer.
God save you!

Oleksandr, basically, everything is correct.
But such a fast is very difficult to observe for those, who start to keep a fast for the first time.
Thus, during the first week you may keep to a raw food diet.
One may consume bread, sour cabbage and cucumbers, different vegetables and fruit.
Some allow themselves boiled potatoes, but not to overeat.
During the following weeks may consume soups, cereals, boiled potatoes with olive oil and garlic.
During the last week may keep to a raw food diet again.
Now it's difficult for me to speak about food, as we - all the clergy and 90% of the faithful drink only water for our bodies and souls to be healthy.
That is very helpful in the spiritual renovation.
Some keep to a fast, drinking only water, for one week, some - for two and some - even longer.
Thanks God, it has been harmless to everybody, and only helpful as to physical condition.
But there is one condition - everyday cleansing of bowels (common enema).
May God help you.
