On the Sunday of the Holy Cross, March 18, 2011, in Kyiv, in the Cathedral of Transfiguration of the Lord of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical, Oleksandr, Bishop of Zhytomyr, in concelebration with Vasyliy, Bishop of Fastiv celebrated Holy Divine Liturgy and called the faithful to listen and follow the precepts of our Lord Jesus Christ:
"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it" (Mark 8:34).
At the end of the Holy Liturgy the Holy Cross was brought for worship. The clergy and the faithful worshipped the Holy Cross with great respect, glorifying God for His infinite love for us, glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ for His sufferings for the salvation of our souls: "We venerate Thy Cross, O Master, and we glorify Thy Holy Resurrection."
Today, as for many centuries, the Holy Cross helps and protects everybody who sincerely believes and follows Jesus the Savior, follows His teachings, follows the God's Truth.
