On June 10, the clergy and the faithful of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical carried out the protest action at Khreshchatyk, the central street of Kyiv, near the office of the Television and radio broadcasting company KYIV. The clergy and the faithful addressed to its editor in chief with the demand to stop the dissemination of blatantly contract and false information which is directed at the defamation of character of Patriarch Moses and the UAOC-C and which injures our religious feelings and is perceived by us as the intentional denigration of our honor and dignity.
The reporting of June, 4 in the course of the programme “Black Square” about the activity of the UAOC-C is the example of the cynical and brutal violation of the Ukrainian legislation. Through the dissemination of slander, inflaming of feud and intolerance to patriarch Moses and the faithful of the UAOC-C, the following laws were violated: Article 9 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, Article 35 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Article 5 of the “Law of Ukraine on Freedom of Consciousness and Religious Organizations”, Decision 1 of the plenary meeting of the Supreme Court of Ukraine of 02/27/2009 “On judicial practice at disposal of cases on protection of honor and dignity of the physical entity and business reputation of the legal entity”.
The presence of such illegal actions in the mass media sphere of our state is the shameful occurrence. They propagandize amorality and absence of spirituality, lead to further degradation of the society, increasing of the chaos in all the spheres of life in Ukraine.
Corruption flourishes in the country. Today, more than ever, the society needs all the honest journalists to unite, assume the responsibility of eradicating dishonest, unprincipled, those who are in love with money individuals from their ranks. The society needs all the honest journalists to become the real fourth branch of power in the state, to become the barrier, the reef, which will stop the waves of the lawlessness and give the hope for the revival of light and spiritual Ukraine.
